Spurs’ BWSL clash against Everton postponed

Tottenham Hotspur’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Everton at The Breyer Group Stadium has been postponed.

The two sides were set to meet in East London this afternoon but the game has been called-off a little over two hours before kick-off with the playing surface waterlogged.

London has been hit with heavy rain in recent days as the United Kingdom has moved into storm season. The bad weather has made an impact on this weekend’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture schedule with Spurs and Everton counting the cost.

The game promised to be an intriguing affair with Spurs having battered Brighton & Hove Albion 8-0 at Broadfield Stadium last weekend while Everton have been very bright this season under the guidance of new manager Brian Sørensen. The two sides will now have to wait a little bit longer to test themselves against each other.

Spurs now have two matches to rearrange with their opening day fixture against Manchester United having been postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Everton just have the one game to fit into their calendar.

In the Barclays Women’s Championship, Crystal Palace’s fixture against Sheffield United is also off with heavy rain having made their artificial surface unplayable.
