Pernille Harder has pulled out of the Denmark squad due to the suspected hamstring injury which she sustained in the nation’s 2-1 victory over Switzerland in Schaffhausen on Friday.
Harder left the field in pain early on in the game after stretching for the ball with Switzerland’s Ana-Maria Crnogorčević.
The Danish Football Association confirmed after the match that Harder would be assessed. Another update has now been provided confirming that the forward has returned to Chelsea for a further assessment and she will play no part in Denmark’s international friendly against The Netherlands in Zwolle on Tuesday evening.
While Chelsea staff, players and fans will be hoping that Harder’s injury is not serious, it seems highly likely that she will be sidelined for a while. The forward seems almost certain to miss The Blues’ Stamford Bridge homecoming against Tottenham Hotspur next weekend while Chelsea are also scheduled to take on Spanish giants Real Madrid in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 10 days’ time. The good news is that Chelsea have a short break after those two games.
An official update on Harder’s condition is expected to be provided by Chelsea once the player’s injury has been fully assessed by the club’s medical team.
