PREVIEW: Vllaznia v Chelsea

Chelsea will be aiming to secure their place in the quarter-finals of this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League when they face Albanian side Vllaznia at the Loro Boriçi Stadium this evening.

The Blues have taken 10 points from an available 12 in the group stage so far and as little as a point in Albania this evening would be enough to see Emma Hayes’ side through to the last-eight.

Vllaznia go into their latest fixture having lost all four of their matches in this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage. The Albanian club have not released any updated team news for this evening’s match, however, defender Lexi Knox and forward Tarah Patterson were notable absentees as Vllaznia lost 4-0 at home to Paris Saint-Germain last week.

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has confirmed that she has no new injury concerns to contend with ahead of her side’s latest European test. The Blues continue to be without the services of Pernille Harder (hamstring) and Melanie Leupolz (maternity) but otherwise, they have good player availability. Hayes will make changes to her side from the team which beat Reading 3-2 at the weekend.

The UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage match between Vllaznia and Chelsea kicks-off at 5.45pm this evening.
