Blackburn Rovers midfielder Worthington signs professional terms

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Nicola Worthington has signed professional terms with the Barclays Women’s Championship club.

News of the player’s contract was revealed by the Lancashire outfit via their official club website earlier today.

Worthington joined Blackburn Rovers at the start of the season from FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club Burnley. The player is in her second spell with Blackburn Rovers after spending some of her youth in their Centre of Excellence. The midfielder has made seven appearances for Gemma Donnelly’s side in this season’s Barclays Women’s Championship.

With Worthington having made the successful step up into the elite game, she has today been rewarded with a professional contract. The midfielder follows a handful of Blackburn Rovers players to have signed professional terms with the club in recent months. Worthington will now be hoping to help her side push on in the second half of the season.

It has been a successful campaign so far for Worthington and Blackburn Rovers. The club have collected 12 points from their 10 Barclays Women’s Championship matches. Donnelly’s side are currently occupying eighth position but there is lots of potential at the club are there is no doubting the fact that they can retain or better their league placing come the end of the season.
