Rumoured Manchester United and Chelsea target Melchie Dumornay has agreed a move to European champions Lyon.
Les Fenottes announced news of the transfer this afternoon via an update on their official club website.
The 19-year-old Haiti international midfielder has signed a pre-contract agreement with Lyon and she will officially join the French club from Stade de Reims on 1 July 2023. The player has initially signed on with the reigning European champions until summer 2026.
Today’s news means that Dumornay won’t be playing her football in the Barclays Women’s Super League in the near future. At the start of the year, BBC Sport journalist Emma Sanders reported that both Manchester United and Chelsea had submitted offers for the midfielder but Dumornay has now opted to join Lyon. The French club always seemed like the favourites to land the player and her decision to remain in the D1 Arkema rather than move to England comes as no surprise.
WSL transfer chat… Told Reims midfielder Melchie Dumornay has heavy interest. 6 months left on contract so can do pre-agreements for summer as of 1 Jan. Offers from Man Utd & Chelsea, Man City also enquired. Competition from Lyon. Clubs would need to pay fee to sign her in Jan.

Dumornay started her career with Haitian club AS Tigresses before joining Stade de Reims in 2021. The midfielder has been a regular in the Stade de Reims side in the last one-and-a-half seasons, putting in a string of impressive performances. Dumornay is seemingly ready to test herself at the next level and she will certainly have a greater challenge with new club Lyon.
