Former Arsenal and Chelsea apprentice Taylor joins Liverpool

Liverpool have completed the signing of former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Miri Taylor following her return from the United States.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Liverpool this afternoon.

Taylor spent the latter days of her youth on the books of Chelsea and then Arsenal before combining football with her studies in the United States. The midfielder represented Hofstra University in the American college system before going on to play for National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion team Angel City.

The 22-year-old has now returned to the UK and she will look to further her career in the Barclays Women’s Super League with Liverpool.

After joining The Reds, Taylor said “It’s a dream come true really. My mum is a massive Liverpool fan so just for her it’s amazing to be here and I’m really excited to get started.

“To come home and play in the Women’s Super League is always something I’ve wanted to do.

“I really hope for Liverpool I can be someone very dependable and reliable, a good centre midfielder who will break up play, get involved, be physical and counter quickly, be a bit of a leader in the middle, assist and score.

“When I went to America, I always imagined coming back to the WSL, that was always my dream, to play football in England at the highest level I can.

“When the NWSL rolled around, I thought I can’t turn that opportunity down and I just wanted to get game experience and first team experience.

“I’m just really excited to have had interest from Liverpool in the first place and when it was Liverpool it was just tunnel vision.”

Taylor becomes Liverpool’s fourth January transfer window signing following the recent additions of Gemma Bonner, Sofie Lundgaard and Fuka Nagano.
