Aston Villa forward Izzy Goodwin has completed a permanent transfer to Barclays Women’s Championship club Coventry United.
The Red and Greens announced the news this evening via an update on their official club website.
Goodwin has moved to the Butts Park Arena on a free transfer after she agreed to the mutual termination of her contract at former club Aston Villa.
The 20-year-old forward came through the academy system at the Midlands club and she went on to make five appearances for The Villans in all competitions Goodwin has been involved in the Aston Villa matchday squad for all 10 of their matches in this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League. She has made substitute appearances in the games against Everton, Reading and Arsenal.
After securing Goodwin’s services, Coventry United head coach Lee Burch said “Izzy is an exciting young player who will bring a different dimension to our attacking play. She played against us a couple of times in behind-closed-doors games and really impressed. I’m looking forward to seeing the impact she can have on our season.”
Goodwin is the latest in a long line of new additions at Coventry United this month. The forward joins Morgan Cross, Rachel Newborough, Lucy Whipp, Eleanor Ryan-Doyle, Ellen Jones, Khiara Keating and Connie Scofield in signing on at the Butts Park Arena.
