Manchester United will be hoping to avoid another struggle against bogey team Durham when the pair contest a Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie at The Leigh Sports Village on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils have dropped points when facing the second tier side in the group stage of the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup in each of the last two seasons. Durham were also the only team to remain unbeaten against Manchester United during the 2018/2019 Barclays Women’s Championship season.
Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner will have to wait a few more hours before being able to carry out a full assessment of his squad’s fitness after the latest international window. January transfer window signings Jayde Riviere and Lisa Naalsund are not yet up to full fitness and continue to be sidelined. Naalsund is said to be progressing well.
Durham boss Lee Sanders has good squad availability ahead of his side’s trip to the North West. Georgia Robert and Lily Crosthwaite were notable absentees from the side which lost 1-0 at Crystal Palace last time out but it is thought that the pair could be available for selection this weekend.
The Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie between Manchester United and Durham is scheduled to kick-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
