Manchester City will be hoping to keep their season alive when they take on Barclays Women’s Super League title favourites Chelsea at The Academy Stadium this afternoon.
The Cityzens exited the Vitality Women’s FA Cup at the quarter-final stage last weekend. Gareth Taylor’s side are now competing for just one piece of silverware, that being the Barclays Women’s Super League trophy. The Cityzens go into this afternoon’s fixture against Chelsea two points adrift of The Blues who also hold a game-in-hand. Anything other than three points for the home side would surely bring their season to an early end.
Manchester City head coach Taylor has virtually a fully-fit squad available ahead of this afternoon’s match. Young goalkeeper Khiara Keating is the only absentee.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes continues to juggle injuries in her squad. The Blues remain without the services of long-term absentees Pernille Harder and Kateřina Svitková while there is no update on the fitness of Fran Kirby. Defender Millie Bright is also out after picking up a knee injury in the midweek victory over Lyon.
The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Manchester City and Chelsea kicks-off at 12.40pm this afternoon. The game has been declared a sell-out with no further tickets available for purchase.
