Leicester City forward Siemsen receives Australia call-up for England fixture

Leicester City forward Remy Siemsen has received a call-up to the Australia squad for their upcoming friendly against England.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from Football Australia this morning.

Siemsen has received a call-up from Australia head coach Tony Gustavsson as a result of the withdrawals of Emily van Egmond and Holly McNamara. Both players have pulled out of the squad on medical grounds. Siemsen will now link-up with the CommBank Matildas at their training base in Surrey prior to their international friendly against England at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford on Tuesday evening.

The forward joined Leicester City from Sydney FC during the January transfer window on a loan deal until the end of the season. The 23-year-old has scored one goal in five appearances for The Foxes so far in her career at The King Power Stadium. Siemsen’s goal came in the form of a brilliant strike against Barclays Women’s Super League title hopefuls Manchester United at the Leigh Sports Village.

Siemsen made her senior debut for Australia against Brazil in October 2021. The forward has gone on to collect six caps for her country. Siemsen will be hoping to use her latest call-up to help bolster her chances of making her nation’s final squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer.
