Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that this evening’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Everton will present an interesting tactical battle.
The Gunners must win on Merseyside to keep their slim Barclays Women’s Super League title hopes alive. The challenge posed by Everton will be a strong one with The Blue Girls having pushed Arsenal all the way in the reverse fixture before going down 1-0 at the LV Bet Stadium.
Both sides like to play an exciting brand of football and Arsenal boss Eidevall is anticipating an interesting tactical battle when the two sides meet at Walton Hall Park this evening.
“I think our pressing needs to be good against a team that are so skilful building out from the back but it is also about how we manage the ball against them,” Eidevall said when discussing tactics in the pre-match press conference.
“Both teams want the ball, so we have to find the right moments to put our foot on the ball and to sustain the attacks and make them defend. It’s going to be an interesting tactical battle.”
Everton suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat at Chelsea in their last Barclays Women’s Super League outing 10 days’ ago. Eidevall is not paying any attention to that result as he knows that it is not an accurate overall representation of Everton’s qualities.
He said “It was not so much about the result, I tend to look at the way that the teams play. You can see that Everton have a lot of good qualities and also some really good players. It is going to be a tough challenge for us.
“We can’t be fooled by that result. We’ve prepared well for the game and we need to continue to do that.”
Arsenal’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Everton kicks-off at 6.15pm.
