Arsenal forward Vivianne Miedema has taken another step forward in her recovery from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury with the player having resumed some gym work.
The Gunners provided a positive fitness update via a post on their official club Twitter account just a short time ago.
Miedema has been pictured running in the gym, an image that will bring joy to the hearts of Arsenal players, staff and fans. The Dutch international is still months away from making her return but Miedema is on the road to recovery. The forward will be working hard over the summer with a view to resuming playing in the first half of next season.
The player sustained her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury during Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Lyon in a UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage fixture at the Emirates Stadium back in December. Miedema had to undergo surgery to address the injury before beginning her rehabilitation.
Miedema is behind Arsenal teammate Beth Mead with her rehabilitation. Mead is said to be ‘ahead of schedule’ with her recovery and she has not completely given up hope of making the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023, although her inclusion in the England squad seems highly unlikely at this stage.
Four Arsenal players are currently nursing Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries. Leah Williamson and Laura Wienroither have also sustained the same injury as Miedema and Mead in 2023.
