Leicester City goalkeeper Kirstie Levell has confirmed that she is leaving the club this summer and will be taking on a new challenge in 2023/2024.
Levell took to her personal Twitter account to confirm her Leicester City departure this afternoon.
The keeper joined Leicester City in summer 2020 and she was handed the number one jersey by former boss Jonathan Morgan. In her first year with The Foxes, Levell helped the club to the Barclays Women’s Championship title. She kept 10 clean sheets in 20 league outings for the East Midlands club, that record was enough to win her the Barclays Women’s Championship’s Golden Glove.
Levell retained the club’s first-choice goalkeeping jersey for the majority of their last two seasons in the Barclays Women’s Super League. She did spend a period on the sidelines through injury in 2021/2022 while Leicester City boss Willie Kirk brought in German keeper Janina Leitzig in the second half of this season.
Levell’s next club is not yet known but her potential new employers will net themselves a very experienced goalkeeper. The 26-year-old has eight years of senior playing experience under her belt, the majority of which has come in the English top flight. When Levell is at her best, there are few goalkeepers in the English game that are better.
