Tottenham Hotspur have announced the departure of Finnish international goalkeeper Tinja-Riikka Korpela at the end of her contract.
The Lilywhites confirmed the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
Korpela has spent the last two seasons with Spurs after joining the club from Everton in summer 2021. The 37-year-old has shared the goalkeeping duties with teammate Becky Spencer in her time with the North Londoners. Korpela has made 22 appearances for Spurs in the Barclays Women’s Super League over the course of the last two seasons.
After Spurs announced Korpela’s departure, Managing Director Andy Rogers said “As has been the case for all the players moving on this summer, it’s not easy to say goodbye, but we wish Tinni all the best for the future and she departs with our sincere thanks for her contribution to Tottenham Hotspur over the past two seasons.”
Korpela is the sixth player to leave Spurs this summer. Defenders Kerys Harrop and Esther Morgan, midfielder Cho So-hyun and forwards Kyah Simon and Chioma Ubogagu have all been released at the end of their contracts. Given the high number of departures, Spurs are expected to be very active in the transfer market over the course of the summer.
