Bristol City goalkeeper Fran Bentley has signed a new two-year contract with the club.
The Robins announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.
Bentley has spent the last two seasons with Bristol City after joining the club in summer 2021. The player was an ever-present for Lauren Smith’s side in the 2022/2023 season as The Robins won the Barclays Women’s Championship title and promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League. Bentley kept 13 clean sheets this season as she landed the league’s Golden Glove award.
Despite having well over 50 career appearances under her belt, Bentley is yet to get a run of games in the Barclays Women’s Super League. She will be hoping to finally achieve that feat with Bristol City next season.
After signing on again at Ashton Gate, Bentley said “I’m delighted to sign a new deal with City, especially after such a brilliant campaign last year.
“Lifting the trophy in front of the fans at Ashton Gate is something I’ll never forget and I’m already looking forward to making more memories with this brilliant group.
“I feel I’ve developed as a player and a person during my time with the club and I can’t wait for the next chapter as we return to the Women’s Super League.”
Bentley has become the ninth member of Bristol City’s promotion-winning side to sign a new deal with the club this summer.
