England’s send-off match against Portugal declared a sell-out

England’s international friendly fixture against Portugal in Milton Keynes next month has been declared a sell-out.

The Lionesses announced the news via a post on their official Twitter account this afternoon.

Sarina Wiegman’s side face Portugal at Stadium MK on Saturday 1 July 2023 with the match set to kick-off at 3.15pm. Tickets for the game have been swiftly snapped up since going on-sale earlier this month. More than 20,000 were claimed in the first few days of sales and all remaining tickets have now been sold.

The fixture offers England fans a final opportunity to wish their team well ahead of this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Lionesses are due to fly out to Australia for the tournament shortly after the Portugal game. England will play just the one home friendly in the lead up to the FIFA Women’s World Cup while they will face Canada in a warm-up match once they arrive on camp in Australia.

England’s players arrived at their St George’s Park training base earlier this week as they begin their initial preparations for the tournament. The Lionesses will spend the next fortnight preparing in England before travelling to their preparation camp on the Sunshine Coast, Australia.
