Arsenal have completed the signing of Canadian international forward Cloé Lacasse from Portuguese club Benfica.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Gunners this morning.
Lacasse has spent the last four years with Benfica having joined the club from Icelandic side ÍBV in 2019. The forward has gone on to win three Liga BPI titles, three Portuguese Cups and two Portuguese Super Cups. Lacasse has also had the opportunity to get a taste of UEFA Women’s Champions League football with Benfica and she netted an impressive seven goals in 10 appearances in this season’s competition. Lacasse leaves Benfica having scored 102 goals in just 131 games in all competitions.
On the international stage, Lacasse made her debut for Canada in November 2021 and she has gone on to score one goal in 19 appearances for the nation.
Lacasse is a player who is ready to step up and perform on a greater stage and she will get that opportunity in England with Arsenal.
After joining The Gunners, Lacasse said “I’m super-excited and enthusiastic to get started here. I feel ready mentally and physically to be able to contribute here and win titles and I feel that this club has everything it takes to compete for the highest honours. I want to go to the next level and score goals here for Arsenal.”
Lacasse is Arsenal’s second summer signing following the recent addition of Swedish international defender Amanda Ilestedt.
