Charlton Athletic pair Beth Roe and Sophie O’Rourke have signed contract extensions with the club ahead of the new season.
The Addicks announced details of both players’ contract extensions earlier today.
Roe’s deal was announced on Charlton Athletic’s official club website this morning. The defender has signed a one-year extension at The Oakwood. Roe made 20 appearances for The Addicks in the Barclays Women’s Championship last season.
Charlton Athletic confirmed O’Rourke’s contract extension this afternoon. The 24-year-old has signed with the club for two more years. O’Rourke made 17 league appearances for the South East Londoners in 2022/2023.
Six players have now signed new contracts with Charlton Athletic in the close season. Angela Addison, Kiera Skeels, Roe and O’Rourke have all extended their deals while youngsters Mary Bashford and Jess Gray have signed professional terms with the club for the first time.
Charlton Athletic are set to begin their third season as a full-time professional club. The Addicks finished the 2022/2023 campaign in fourth place in the Barclays Women’s Championship table, one place higher than in the previous season. The club’s long-term aim is to reach the Barclays Women’s Super League and further progression towards that goal will be expected this season. The Addicks are likely to be one of the sides tipped to challenge for promotion this term.
