Former Aston Villa keeper Rogers seals permanent Charlton Athletic move

Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Sian Rogers has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Charlton Athletic on a free transfer.

The Addicks announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Rogers has joined the South East Londoners following the expiry of her contract at former club Aston Villa. The move comes after player enjoyed a successful loan spell at Charlton Athletic last season.

The keeper spent six years at former club Aston Villa, helping the club to promotion to the top flight in 2019/2020. With Rogers out of favour at Aston Villa last season, she spent the campaign with Charlton Athletic where she kept seven clean sheets in 22 Barclays Women’s Championship appearances. The player has done enough to earn herself a permanent move to South East London this summer.

After signing a permanent contract with Charlton Athletic, Rogers said “Obviously when it came about that Karen (Hills) wanted me to stay, it was something that I really did consider after my loan spell. I really did enjoy it here and it played a massive part in me coming back to the club, and I am happy to be back!”

Rogers becomes Charlton Athletic’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
