Rangers have completed the signing of London City Lionesses’ top scorer Sarah Ewens for an undisclosed fee.
The Gers announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
Ewens spent one season with London City Lionesses after joining the club from Birmingham City last summer. She went on to score 12 goals in 19 Barclays Women’s Championship appearances for The Pride. Ewens ended the campaign at the top of the Barclays Women’s Championship’s goal rankings alongside Charlton Athletic’s Melissa Johnson.
The striker is now returning north of the border after two seasons playing in the English game.
After securing her transfer to Rangers, Ewens said “I am delighted to be here. I have been really looking forward to getting this deal done so I am excited to get going.”
Ewens started her career with Edinburgh-based club Spartans before joining Hibernian. The forward then spent four years at Celtic before moving down south to play for both Birmingham City and London City Lionesses. Few players turn out for both Glasgow clubs in their careers but Ewens will be hoping to make as much of an impact for new club Rangers as she did for Celtic on the other side of the city.
