Arsenal goalkeeper Kaylan Marckese has joined newly-promoted Barclays Women’s Super League club Bristol City on a season-long loan deal.
Bristol City announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.
Marckese joined Arsenal last summer from Danish top flight club HB Køge. The American keeper made a couple of appearances for the North Londoners last season in the early stages of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and Women’s FA Cup, however, she largely provided cover.
Arsenal signed Canadian international goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo in the January transfer window and Marckese has slipped further down the rankings as a result. With Marckese unlikely to get regular minutes at Arsenal this season, she has been allowed to spend the campaign with Bristol City.
After joining The Robins, Marckese said “I’m excited to get started and to play at Ashton Gate and experience the fans. I’m looking forward to getting to know the team and the community, especially because there is such a buzz around promotion back to the Women’s Super League.
“I can’t wait to get going with the girls and see what we can achieve together.”
Marckese becomes Bristol City head coach Lauren Smith’s third signing of the summer transfer window.
