West Ham United have completed the signing of American goalkeeper Katelin Talbert.
The Hammers announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.
Talbert joins the East Londoners on a free transfer after recently leaving Portuguese champions SL Benfica. The 24-year-old briefly worked with West Ham United previously prior to her 18 months with Benfica. Talbert won back-to-back Liga BPI titles in her time in Portugal along with the Taça de Liga Feminina and the Super Cup.
It has been reported that Talbert will spend the 2023/2024 campaign on loan at Swedish club Djurgårdens IF to help build international visa points before returning to West Ham United next season.
After completing her move to West Ham United, Talbert said “I’m very happy to sign with this amazing club and everyone has made me feel very welcome since the moment I arrived.
“I’m excited by the opportunity to work hard in Sweden and then be ready to return back to East London next season.
“Playing in the WSL has always been a dream of mine, given it’s a league with such high quality, so I am grateful for this challenge. I couldn’t be more ready to take it on!”
Talbert îs West Ham United’s third signing of the summer transfer window.
