Chelsea full-back Alsu Abdullina has joined French D1 Arkema club Paris FC on a season-long loan deal.
The French club announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this morning.
Abdullina has struggled for game time in her Chelsea career to date. The Russian international joined The Blues during the January 2022 transfer window but she has made just 11 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League, all of which have come from the bench.
It is thought that Chelsea manager Emma Hayes was keen to send Abdullina out on loan to further her development last season but a deal collapsed. The defender will hopefully now get the game time that she needs in France with Paris FC.
Abdullina joins a Paris FC side that performed very well in the D1 Arkema last season. The club finished in third position, directly below European heavyweights Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain. The club will be hoping to continue to close the gap between themselves and their league rivals in the coming season.
Chelsea manager Hayes has further strengthened her side’s defensive unit this summer therefore it is highly likely that Abdullina’s game time would have further reduced if she had stayed at the club.
