Sheffield United defender Charley Docherty has signed a new contract with the club ahead of the new season.
The Blades announced the news this morning via a post on their official club website.
Docherty is a product of the Sheffield United academy system and she has gone on to break into the senior squad in recent seasons. The 20-year-old has made nine appearances for the South Yorkshire club in the Barclays Women’s Championship to date.
The player has a big future ahead of her and she will be hoping to get more game time under her belt in the second tier this season.
After extending her contract with Sheffield United, Docherty said “I’m very happy, I’m always happy to be here. The way it’s going and what Jonno (Morgan) is putting in place for us is amazing.
“I remember being maybe 13 or 14 in the academy where there wasn’t a progression to the first team and to be here when it’s now full-time, I think it’s massive for the club.”
Docherty becomes the ninth Sheffield United player to sign a new contract with the club this summer. The Blades have also retained the services of other highly-rated young talents in the form of Molly Graham and Chenè Muir.
