Durham and Lewes will hope to move on from frustrating opening day results in the Barclays Women’s Championship when they meet at Maiden Castle on Sunday.
The Wildcats got off to a flying start at Watford last weekend but they were made to settle for a 1-1 draw. Meanwhile, Lewes’ season started in the worst possible manner with The Rooks going down 4-1 at home to Southampton.
Durham started the new campaign without influential midfielder Beth Hepple. It is not known whether the player could return to the side this weekend. Defender Georgia Robert was also a notable absentee at Grosvenor Vale. Lily Crosthwaite sustained an injury on opening day and is likely to be assessed.
Lewes head coach Scott Booth could opt to make some changes to his starting XI this weekend after that heavy opening day defeat to Southampton. Defender Ellie Hack could make her first start of the season while on-loan Chelsea forward Reanna Blades brought fresh energy from the bench on opening day. Midfielder Maria Farrugia is set to face her former employers following her Maiden Castle departure in the summer.
Durham’s Barclays Women’s Championship fixture against Lewes is scheduled to kick-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
