Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that this afternoon’s opponents Linköping FC are a team that are very strong collectively.
The Gunners kick-off their UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign with a Round 1 semi-final tie against the Swedish side at the Linköping Arena.
When discussing Linköping’s qualities with Arsenal’s official media team ahead of the match, Eidevall said that he expects to face a very strong team.
“They’re a very well-structured team,” Eidevall said. “They’ve been one of the top teams for two seasons in a row here in Sweden. I think they have been very strong so far this season.
“They’ve changed their head coach but the first two games after that, they also continued to look very strong.
“It is a strong collective that we are going to play against and we need to be very good in order to get the result.”
Eidevall went on to say that he has only been able to work with the full squad for a week as a result of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023. Despite having that restricted opportunity, he is hopeful about the future.
He said “It has been such a quick turnaround with players returning from the World Cup early last week. We’ve basically had a week to practice together but there is so much that you want to cover in order to prepare everyone for what is coming.
“It has been really hectic but we’ve had some good days together. I have seen glimpses of some really good things on the training pitches.”
Arsenal’s UEFA Women’s Champions League Round 1 semi-final tie against Linköping kicks-off at 4pm.
