Spurs forward England dealt injury blow

Tottenham Hotspur forward Beth England has been dealt an injury blow ahead of the new season with the player set to be sidelined for a period.

Spurs provided a fitness update on England via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The North Londoners have confirmed that England has undergone minor surgery on a troublesome hip problem. She is expected to miss the start of the new Barclays Women’s Super League season and international duty for England in the opening matches of the inaugural UEFA Women’s Nations League.

England has also issued her own personal statement on her condition which read:

“Unfortunately on Monday, I required hip surgery to fix an issue I’ve had for a few months. Sadly, this means I will be sidelined for a while.

“I’m gutted I won’t be able to start the new season with my team and have the chance to play in the UEFA Women’s Nations League with the Lionesses. However, priority right now is my recovery and working hard to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. In the meantime, I’ll be the biggest supporter for both club and country.”

England joined Spurs in the January transfer window and scored 12 goals in 12 outings for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
