Sheffield United announce departure of manager Morgan

Sheffield United have confirmed the departure of first team manager Jonathan Morgan.

The Blades announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

Sheffield United have confirmed that Morgan’s contract has been terminated due to his position no longer being tenable. The decision has been made due to new information coming to light regarding Morgan’s conduct prior to joining Sheffield United.

Morgan temporarily stepped down from his position following the tragic death of Sheffield United midfielder Maddy Cusack to allow for a formal investigation to take place over her passing. Morgan’s conduct and behaviour was considered in that investigation, however, he was cleared to return to work and took charge of the team once again earlier this month.

Following a further review based on some new information, Morgan’s position has become untenable and Sheffield United have now parted company with their manager.

Luke Turner will again take interim charge of Sheffield United. The Blades are next in action on Sunday when they travel to Maiden Castle to contest a Barclays Women’s Championship fixture against Durham. Further details regarding the club’s managerial vacancy are expected to be communicated in due course. There is no timescale to appoint a new manager.
