‘Every game is dangerous’ – Manchester United won’t underestimate Bristol City says Healy

Manchester United’s assistant coach Charlotte Healy says that her side won’t be underestimating latest opponents Bristol City.

The Red Devils take on the Barclays Women’s Super League’s bottom club at the Leigh Sports Village on Sunday afternoon.

Bristol City suffered a damaging 7-3 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last time out. The Robins will be looking to produce a reaction this weekend and Manchester United’s assistant boss Healy says that their threat will not be underestimated.

“I think every game is dangerous in this league,” Healy said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “You only have to look at results across the league with every team this season. Every team can bring threats on their day; we know Lauren’s [Smith] team will be organised, we know they will have a lot of fight.

“From the games I’ve watched, Bristol City have played really well in some of them but they haven’t picked up the results. I saw Lauren’s comments that people will have them already beaten but we certainly don’t. We’ve worked really hard this week to make sure that we are prepared and that we build on the Brighton performance. There will be no underestimating Bristol City that’s for sure.”

Manchester United’s only realistic chance of silverware this season is in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. The Red Devils will play host to Chelsea in the semi-finals next month. Healy went on to say that performing in the league is equally as important as Adobe Women’s FA Cup success.

She said “We want to try and win every game, we don’t see it as bouncing along in the league and going all out for the FA Cup. These girls are incredibly professional, we want to try and win every game.

“We’ve been disappointed with some results. We’ve been pleased with some parts of the performances in those games and disappointed with other parts. I think what we need is consistency because we’ve probably lacked that a little bit. We’ve not seen games out where we’ve needed to but there have been some real positives too. You saw the players come together against Brighton and we absolutely have to build on that for the last stage of the season.”

Manchester United’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Bristol City is scheduled to kick-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
