‘I want us to finish as high as we can’ – Brighton targeting strong end to campaign says Harris

Brighton & Hove Albion’s interim head coach Mikey Harris is challenging his side to finish as high as they can in the Barclays Women’s Super League table.

The Seagulls currently occupy eighth position with five games remaining. Three of Brighton & Hove Albion’s last five matches are against sides in the bottom half of the league table.

When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s trip to West Ham United, Brighton & Hove Albion’s interim boss Harris said that his side are aiming for a strong finish to the season.

“I’m looking up the table, I want us to finish as high as we can,” Harris said. “West Ham is another opportunity for both teams to get three points, that’s how I see it. I think it will be a really tough game but we will be prepared and go into it full of confidence.

“Hopefully, if we can get a result, we can continue to look up the table and see how high we can finish. That’s the challenge that I’ve set down to the players. We’ve got five games left, 15 points available, so let’s go and see how many points we can get and how high we can finish. It just gives us momentum going forward.”

Going on to discuss the threat of West Ham United, Harris sees another tough opponent, although he says that Brighton & Hove Albion must focus on their own game.

He said “I think they’re a good side. We know that it’s really tight, there’s nothing in the league in that area.

“I’ve watched them a lot this week. They’re a very solid team and will be very difficult to play against, they’ve got some threats going forward as well.

“We will have to be at our best. We will focus on us, respect the opposition and try and input our game and our identity on them as much as we possibly can. Hopefully, we can produce a really positive performance and build some momentum on this away run that we are on at the moment.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at West Ham United kicks-off at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
