Aston Villa sign Bayern Munich midfielder Baijings on loan

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Jill Baijings on a season-long loan deal.

Baijings started her senior career with Dutch club SC Heerenveen. She moved to Germany in 2020 and has represented SGS Essen, Bayer Leverkusen and latest club Bayern Munich. The 23-year-old has spent one season with Bayern in which she made 14 appearances for the club in the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga.

On the international stage, Baijings is a member of the Dutch national team. She was selected by The Orange Lionesses for last summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The player has eight senior international caps to her name to date.

After securing Baijings’ services for the upcoming season, Aston Villa’s Head of Women’s Football, Lee Billiard said “We are delighted to add Jill. She is a player we have tracked for a while and believe she has a lot of key attributes that would strengthen the team’s performances.

“Jill is a young player with great experience who we look forward to welcoming.”

Baijings becomes new Aston Villa manager Robert de Pauw’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
