Former Sheffield United midfielder Bex Rayner has joined Barclays Women’s Super League club Brighton & Hove Albion on a free transfer.

Rayner joins Brighton & Hove Albion after leaving former club Sheffield United at the end of her contract.

The 24-year-old arrives at her new club with a wealth of Barclays Women’s Championship experience under her belt. Rayner has spent most of her career to date playing in the second tier with Doncaster Rovers Belles and Sheffield United. Rayner was an old FAWSL2 winner with The Belles back in 2017/2018.

The midfielder has proved her quality over several seasons and she is now ready to make the step up to Barclays Women’s Championship football with Brighton & Hove Albion.

After bringing Rayner to Brighton & Hove Albion, the club’s managing director of women’s and girls’ football, Zoe Johnson said “We’re delighted to welcome Bex to Brighton. She was a standout player last season in the Women’s Championship.

“She’s now looking to progress her career in the WSL, and we’re looking forward to seeing how she develops with us.”

Rayner becomes Brighton & Hove Albion’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
