Southampton have completed the signing of former Sheffield United full-back Rachel Brown on a free transfer.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Saints this afternoon.
Brown joins Southampton after leaving her former club earlier this summer. The player spent two seasons as a Sheffield United player in which she made 33 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship and scored one goal. Brown was an ever-present for The Blades in league competition last season.
The defender is growing with every game and she will be hoping to take a further step forward with new club Southampton this season.
After completing her move to the South Coast, Brown said “I’m very excited and very grateful to be here. Southampton have always been a very good club and have been competitive in the Championship. Hopefully, I can really push on and help the team go places this season.”
Brown becomes Southampton’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window. The player joins her former Sheffield United teammates Tara Bourne and Fran Stenson at her new club. The pair completed their moves to St Mary’s Stadium earlier this summer after also leaving Sheffield United at the end of their contracts.
