Liverpool sign Manchester United defender Evans

Liverpool have completed the signing of Manchester United defender Gemma Evans for an undisclosed fee.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Reds this afternoon.

Evans joins Liverpool after spending one season with Manchester United. The 28-year-old made 12 appearances for Marc Skinner’s side in last season’s Barclays Women’s Super League while she was an Adobe Women’s FA Cup winner with The Red Devils.

The defender has a wealth of experience in the English top flight. In addition to her spell at Manchester United, Evans has also featured in the Barclays Women’s Super League for Yeovil Town, Bristol City and Reading.

On the international stage, Evans has made 67 appearances for Wales while she has scored one goal.

After completing her move to Liverpool, Evans said “It’s a massive move for me. Last season was a difficult year for me as I had to learn to be a teammate in a different way on the field, so it’s so exciting to be at Liverpool and working with Matt [Beard] again, and I’m really looking forward to getting ready to go.”

Evans is Liverpool’s third signing of the summer transfer window following the recent additions of Olivia Smith and Cornelia Kapocs.
