Manchester City sign Bristol City defender Layzell

Manchester City have announced the signing of Bristol City defender Naomi Layzell.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Cityzens this morning.

It has been reported that Layzell has penned a four-year contract at The Joie Stadium. Bristol City have received a club record transfer fee for the player’s services.

The 20-year-old is a product of the Bristol City academy system. The player went on to make 60 appearances for The Robins in league competition at senior level. She won the Barclays Women’s Championship title with Bristol City in 2022/2023.

On the international stage, Layzell has represented England at various youth levels. She also recently attended a camp with the senior squad.

After joining Manchester City, Layzell said “It’s quite surreal to be honest. You always want to play for the top teams as a young player and I think joining City is an exciting opportunity for me.

“Playing alongside and against top elite professionals in the world is just a brilliant opportunity and a really hard one to turn down. I grew so much as a person at Bristol City, but I felt it was time for me to find a new challenge.  I’m really excited to get involved.”

Layzell is Manchester City’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
