Newcastle United midfielder Elysia Boddy has signed a new three-year contract with the club.
The Magpies announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.
The 20-year-old joined Newcastle United last summer after leaving former club Bristol City. Boddy made 16 appearances for The Magpies in last season’s FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division as the club romped to the title. The midfielder started Newcastle United’s first-ever game in the Barclays Women’s Championship at London City Lionesses last weekend and she was a stand-out performer for Becky Langley’s side.
Boddy is a key player for Newcastle United and the club have therefore moved to retain her services for the long-term.
After signing on again with Newcastle United, Boddy said “I’m buzzing to have signed a new contract at this club. It’s the place I want to be and a club I want to excel with, so to sign a long-term contract is very rewarding. I’m so proud, especially being at a club so close to home for me – it’s an amazing feeling.
“I feel at home here and, given the way that we play football and the way Newcastle United is as a club, everything here matches my ambitions and that’s for the whole club. The desire to win here is huge, so staying here for a long time is exciting.”
Newcastle United are back in Barclays Women’s Championship action next weekend when they play host to Sheffield United at Kingston Park.
