Manchester City legend Houghton lands new roles

Manchester City legend Steph Houghton has returned to the club to take up the positions of Project Officer and Club Ambassador.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Manchester City this afternoon.

The 36-year-old former defender opted to hang up her boots at the end of last season after spending a decade with Manchester City. Houghton was always expected to return to the club in some capacity and it has today been revealed that she has taken up Project Officer and Club Ambassador roles.

After Houghton’s new club roles were announced, Manchester City’s Managing Director, Charlotte O’Neill said “The legacy continues. We are delighted that Steph’s impact will continue here at Manchester City as Project Officer and through her historic ambassadorial role.

“This newest chapter for Steph reflects our ambition to provide the best environment for personal development on and off the pitch, and I am very much looking forward to seeing her flourish.”

As Club Ambassador, it has been reported that Houghton will be visible on a matchday while she will represent Manchester City at events across the globe. Her Project Officer role will see her connect with various departments at the City Football Academy.
