Brighton & Hove Albion’s chief executive officer and deputy chairman Paul Barber OBE says that the club are just days away from making an exciting announcement about the proposed purpose-built stadium for their women’s team.
Barber addressed supporters on the subject at a Brighton & Hove Albion fans’ forum at the Amex Stadium this evening.
Plans for a purpose-built stadium for Brighton & Hove Albion Women have been in the pipeline for a couple of years and Barber previously indicated that he hoped that the team would have their own home venue for the start of the 2027/2028 season. In his latest briefing this evening, Barber revealed that the club are expecting to issue a significant update in the coming days.
“We are very close to making an announcement on the new women’s stadium,” Barber said. “Look out for that over the next week or so.
“We are very excited about the plans for that because we believe that it’ll be the first purpose-built women’s stadium in the whole of Europe, if not the world. That will be very special.”
Brighton & Hove Albion currently play the majority of their home fixtures 21 miles away at Broadfield Stadium in Crawley. The new purpose-built stadium will allow the women’s team to move closer to their roots in the City of Brighton and Hove.
