Manchester United sign Swedish international full-back Lundkvist

Manchester United have completed the signing of Swedish international full-back Hannah Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The Red Devils announced the news via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.

The 23-year-old defender will join Manchester United on 1 January 2026 and is the club’s first addition of the winter transfer window.

Lundkvist has most-recently turned out for American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club San Diego Wave where she won the Challenge Cup in 2024. The player has also represented AIK, Hammarby IF and Atlético Madrid in her senior career to date.

On the international stage, Lundkvist has been capped by Sweden on 29 occasions.

After joining Manchester United, Lundkvist said “I am really excited to be here; Manchester United is a club with an amazing history. You can feel how much they have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.

“Speaking with Marc [Skinner] and the coaches confirmed all of the great things I have heard about the culture of the team here. I cannot wait to get started and help the group to achieve more success.”

Manchester United are hoping to announce at least another new addition in next month’s transfer window.
