Spurs sign Norwegian international Blakstad

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Norwegian international Julie Blakstad on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Lilywhites this morning.

The 24-year-old joins Spurs after recently leaving Swedish OBOS Damallsvenskan club Hammarby IF. Blakstad returns to the Barclays Women’s Super League two years on from leaving former club Manchester City. She made 36 appearances for The Cityzens in which she scored 10 goals.

Blakstad is very much a utility player. She has operated in various positions throughout her career and it will be fascinating to see what her role will be at new club Spurs.

On the international stage, Blakstad has been capped by Norway on 31 occasions in which she has scored three goals.

After joining Spurs, Blakstad said “This is such a great Club, I’m so excited to start. This is a club with ambitions, I know both the players and staff have high ambitions, which I really like. They focus on development, which is really important for me, and I’ve always said I want to play against the best players as often as I can. I can’t wait to meet everyone in the team.”

Blakstad is Spurs’ fifth signing of the January transfer window.
