Charlton Athletic sign Glasgow City forward Lockwood

Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of forward Katie Lockwood on a permanent deal.

The Addicks announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The 27-year-old joins Charlton Athletic from Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) leaders Glasgow City. She has penned an 18-month deal at The Valley.

The Huddersfield-born forward will play professional football in England for the first time in her career. Lockwood played college football in the United States before starting her senior career with Cypriot side Apollon where she won a league and cup double. The player then featured for Swedish club KIF Örebro DFF before spending the last three years playing in Scotland in spells with Hibernian, Hearts and Glasgow City.

Lockwood will now finally get the chance to play in England with Charlton Athletic.

After joining The Addicks, Lockwood said “I am buzzing to be here, it’s a new challenge for me and I am really excited.”

“I have a lot of experience from the different countries that I have played in, so I am hoping that I can bring that here to Charlton and to the league this year.”

Lockwood is Charlton Athletic’s first signing of the January transfer window.
