Forward Kerr to leave Chelsea

Chelsea forward Sam Kerr will leave the club when her contract expires at the end of next month.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blues this evening.

The 32-year-old has spent the last six-and-a-half years with Chelsea. Kerr has made 177 appearances for the South West Londoners in all competitions in which she has scored 115 goals. The forward has won five Barclays Women’s Super League titles, three Adobe Women’s FA Cups, three Subway Women’s League Cups and the FA Women’s Community Shield with The Blues.

Kerr has long been linked with a Chelsea exit this summer and it has now been confirmed that she will be playing her football elsewhere next season.

After her Chelsea exit was confirmed, Kerr said “When I reflect on my Chelsea career and doing it for the last time [against Manchester United this Saturday], I just feel happy. Happy that it happened, and I feel so grateful to have played for this club for six years and won as many trophies as we could.”

Kerr’s final appearance for Chelsea against Manchester United will be at Stamford Bridge. The Blues face The Red Devils in SW6 at 1pm on Saturday afternoon.
