Arsenal keeper Zinsberger to join Borussia Dortmund

Arsenal goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger has agreed a deal to join German club Borussia Dortmund.

BVB announced the news via a post on their official club X account this afternoon.

The 30-year-old Austrian international stopper has signed a three-year deal at the Stadion Rote Erde. She will officially join Borussia Dortmund when her contract with current club Arsenal expires at the end of the month.

Zinsberger joined Arsenal from German club Bayern Munich in summer 2019 and she went on to establish herself as a fans’ favourite in her time in North London. The keeper made 143 appearances for The Gunners in all competitions, helping the club to win the UEFA Women’s Champions League and two Subway Women’s League Cups. Zinsberger was sidelined when Arsenal won the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup earlier this year.

Zinsberger joins a club that is investing heavily in their women’s team in a bid to reach the very top. Borussia Dortmund Women were only formed in 2021 but the club has rapidly risen up the footballing pyramid in Germany, winning trophy after trophy in regional football. BVB hope to be playing in the Google-Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga within the next few seasons.

Borussia Dortmund will play in the Frauen-Regionalliga again this season but will be the favourites to win the title and promotion to the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga.
