Nottingham Forest to sign Sheffield United defender Lafayette

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Sheffield United defender Abbie Lafayette.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Tricky Trees this afternoon.

The 24-year-old full-back has signed a two-year deal at The City Ground. She will officially become a Nottingham Forest player when her contract with Sheffield United ends on 1 July 2026.

Lafayette spent the early days of her senior playing career with Ipswich Town and Watford before being snapped up by Sheffield United in summer 2024. The defender has performed well for The Blades and started every game for the club in Barclays WSL2 this season.

It is fair to say that Lafayette has huge potential and she will be hoping to make a real impact for Nottingham Forest.

After completing her move Trentside, Lafayette said “It’s a great setup here. I’ve heard a lot of positive things from a lot of people so it’s a great feeling to be signing for the Club and I’m really excited.

“I’ve learned and grown a lot in the past few seasons playing at this level and I’m looking forward to bringing that experience here. I’m an aggressive defender, I like to get stuck in and I’m passionate, which is what fans can expect to see from me.

“I’m joining an ambitious Club with high expectations for the season ahead, and hopefully something great will come at the end of it.”

Lafayette is new Nottingham Forest boss Tom Mallinson’s first summer signing.
