Sunderland midfielder Katie Kitching has signed a new two-year contract with the club.
The Lady Black Cats announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
The 27-year-old New Zealand international joined Sunderland after leaving London City Lionesses in summer 2023. The midfielder has gone on to make 77 appearances for the Wearsiders in all competitions in which she has scored 17 goals. Kitching has established herself as a key player and has brought real quality to the Sunderland midfield.
With Sunderland set to begin an exciting new chapter under the Bay Collective majority ownership, Kitching has an important role to play and the club have therefore moved to retain her services for two more years.
After signing on again with Sunderland, Kitching said “I’m delighted to sign a new contract with Sunderland.
“I’ve loved my time here so far, and this is such an exciting time to be part of the Club. I can’t wait for the season to get started.”
Kitching is one of 10 senior players to be contracted to Sunderland for next season. Negotiations are ongoing with Jess Brown and Eleanor Dale. Five youngsters have also signed professional terms with The Lady Black Cats and will push for senior honours in 2026/2027.
