Aston Villa sign Norwegian youth international midfielder Melgård

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Norwegian youth international midfielder Kamilla Melgård.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Villans earlier today.

The 20-year-old midfielder joins Aston Villa from Spanish Liga F Moeve club Madrid CFF where she has spent the last two years. Melgård featured in all 30 games for Madrid CFF in the Spanish top flight this season, starting 28 of those matches. She scored four goals and provided seven assists.

Prior to her spell in Spain, Melgård played her football back home in her native Norway with Lyn. She came through the club’s youth and reserve ranks before featuring for the first team on more than 60 occasions.

On the international stage, Melgård has represented Norway at various youth levels up to and including Under-23 level. She is still awaiting her senior debut.

After joining Aston Villa, Melgård said “I’m really excited. It feels like a really good opportunity, and I feel like there are really good facilities here to grow, focus on football and continue developing as a player.”

Melgård is Aston Villa’s second signing of the summer transfer window. The club have also added Rangers forward Mia McAulay to their squad so far this summer.
