Rangers sign Nottingham Forest defender Smith

Rangers have completed the signing of Nottingham Forest defender Kirsty Smith on a two-year deal.

The Gers announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this morning.

The 32-year-old full-back moves to the Ibrox club after recently agreeing to leave Nottingham Forest.

Smith joined The Tricky Trees last summer ahead of their debut season in Barclays WSL2. She made 12 appearances for Nottingham Forest, scoring one goal as the club secured a mid-table finish.

The defender had signed a two-year deal with Nottingham Forest last summer but it has been agreed that she can take up a new challenge in 2026/2027 with Rangers.

After joining Rangers, Smith said “I am obviously really excited to be here and just be back home in Scotland. I have met all the girls, they are all so lovely, and I just can’t wait to get started.

“I just think I have been away for a long time and I miss a lot of the family side of it as well.

“Being happy off the pitch and on the pitch will help me a lot as a player, and I think that comes hand-in-hand.”

Smith returns to her native Scotland after spending the last eight years playing in the English game.
