Arsenal have completed the signing of former FC Barcelona full-back Ona Batlle.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Gunners this morning.
The 27-year-old defender joins Arsenal following the conclusion of her contract at former club FC Barcelona.
Batlle is one of the very best right-backs in world football and she has enjoyed a hugely successful three-year spell in her native Spain with FC Barcelona. The player has won two UEFA Women’s Champions League titles along with three domestic trebles.
Batlle started out at FC Barcelona before going on to impress at Madrid CFF and Levante UD. She then moved to Manchester United where she starred for the next three years of her career. Batlle returned home to FC Barcelona in summer 2023.
On the international stage, Batlle has been capped by Spain on 76 occasions in which she has scored two goals. She has won the FIFA Women’s World Cup and two UEFA Women’s Nations Leagues with her country.
After joining Arsenal, Batlle said “I’m very happy and excited to get going. Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I can’t wait to feel the joy of playing in front of our supporters at Emirates Stadium alongside so many great players. I want to win trophies and I feel this is the right place to achieve that.”
Batlle is Arsenal’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
