Leicester City defender Kees joins Ajax

Leicester City defender Sari Kees has joined Dutch Eurojackpot Vrouwen Eredivisie club Ajax on a permanent deal.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Foxes this afternoon.

The 25-year-old joins Ajax on a free transfer. She has signed a three-year deal with the Amsterdam outfit.

Kees spent two seasons with Leicester City after joining the club from OH Leuven. She made 31 appearances for the club in all competitions. The Belgian international was relegated with The Foxes at the end of last season.

After taking Kees to Ajax, the Dutch club’s technical manager Dolf Roks said ”With Sari, we are bringing in an experienced player who knows what is required at the highest level. It is no coincidence that she wore the captain’s armband at Leuven and is a Belgium international.

“Sari is an intelligent defender who positions herself well and can contribute to the build-up play with her footballing qualities. She has the ability to remain calm in possession and maintain a good overview of the game, making her a defender who fits our style of play perfectly.

“We look forward to a bright future for her at Ajax.”

Kees is one of several players to have left Leicester City over the summer.
