Coventry United have issued a major statement of intent with the signing of former Sheffield United forward Katie Wilkinson.
The 26-year-old has been the FA Women’s Championship’s top scorer for the last two seasons and she will now be playing her football at the Butts Park Arena next season after agreeing a two-year deal with Coventry United.
The Red and Greens announced their sensational transfer swoop in a post on their official club Twitter account this evening. The transfer is undoubtedly the biggest move of the summer so far in the FA Women’s Championship.
✍️The club are delighted to announce the arrival of Katie Wilkinson from Sheffield United on a two year contract from the 1st July.

Wilkinson announced that she would be leaving former club Sheffield United earlier this week after spending the last two years with The Blades. The striker netted an astonishing 33 goals in just 34 FA Women’s Championship games during her time in South Yorkshire.
News of Wilkinson’s move to Coventry United is a real sign that the club are not intending to simply make up the numbers in the FA Women’s Championship. Having acquired a player of Wilkinson’s calibre, Jay Bradford’s side are clearly looking forward and planning for a future competing in the top half of the league table.
Coventry United have recorded 10th-place finishes in their first two years in the second tier, however, a number of experienced players have left the club this summer, making way for a number of potential new additions.
